Look at the colours, materials, windows, ceilings and architecture.

Then think about where flowers can add something.

Sometimes the answer is an entrance installation. Sometimes it's the dining tables. Sometimes one spectacular arrangement in the right corner is enough.

Think About the Mood

Different flowers create very different moods.

Want something modern?

Think architectural shapes, restrained colour palettes and unusual textures.

Want something relaxed?

Guests spend a large part of the evening sitting around them, so the flowers should contribute to the experience without becoming an obstacle.

And you don't necessarily need flowers everywhere.

Summer opens up an enormous range of flowers and garden textures.

Autumn can bring warmer tones, unusual foliage and beautiful movement.

Winter doesn't have to mean red poinsettias and traditional Christmas decorations. Branches, berries, foliage and sculptural flowers can create something much more contemporary.

Working with the season often leads to more interesting designs because it gives us a starting point rather than a fixed shopping list.

When Should You Go Big?

Not every event needs a huge floral installation.

But if you have one part of the venue that needs a focal point, that's often where investing in flowers can have the greatest impact.

An entrance.

A bar.

A stage.

A staircase.

A backdrop for photographs.

Or simply a large empty wall that needs some personality.

One strong floral moment can sometimes be more memorable than dozens of small arrangements.

The Best Event Flowers Feel Effortless

The flowers might look spontaneous, but good event floristry involves a lot of planning behind the scenes.

The flowers need to arrive at the right time, be conditioned correctly, work with the venue and survive the event itself.

And the design needs to make sense from every angle — not just from the photograph.
